What can I do to help?

finding_nemo_3d_chrushHello again, so you want to know what you can do to help protect us? Here’s just a few ways you can help:

Be more green

Now this doesn’t mean paint yourself green and pretend to be a turtle! Being green means doing things to help the environment. For example you can make sure you recycle, make sure you put all your rubbish in the bin or wear thicker jumpers in the winter instead of turning the heating on! Also if you have a party with balloons make sure none of them escape because sea turtles may end up eating them thinking they’re a jellyfish. To learn about more ways to be green click here

Fundraising 52c35ed0d731fe0db19fb3c3203e83bb 3504146673_4c842aa3d7

Organisations that help protect sea turtles need money to fund the great work they do so you could help out by fundraising some money and donating it to an organisation like WWF or Sea turtle conservancy. You could hold a bake sale at school or do a sponsored swim or even dress like a turtle for a day and get people to sponsor you!

Sponsor a turtle

Ask your parents if you can sponsor a turtle. You pay a little money each month and you’ll get updates about what your turtle might be doing and what people are doing to help protect your turtle. Plus you can name your turtle whatever you want! You may even get sent a cuddly turtle, yipee! You can sponsor a turtle here

Knock down your sand castles

Now I know that sandcastles are great fun and its such a shame to have to knock them down after you’ve spent all day building them but hear me out. Remember that if a turtle bumps into one she will turn around and go back into the sea and not lay her eggs so before you go home knock it down and flatten the sand. Take a picture to remember how great your sand castle was!

What a great sans sculpture. Unfortunately whoever made this forgot to knock it down which might have stopped a turtle nesting.
